Some project ideas for Software Engineering students

I know lot of you searching for project ideas. Let me help you giving some ideas. All the ideas here are conventional software project ideas. I’m not going to encourage to use all these, but these may help you. Innovative projects are always appreciated. And ideas are too overrated term, execution does matter.

NOTE: Don’t ask me to do anything further, I won’t  help you.  You better research and use all these at your own risk.

1. Admission management System(you guys know about it, DU admission system, let’s make some better things)
2. E-school, let’s make a full digital school. Ref: https://esd.eschooldata.com/
3. Ice cream parlor management system. (this is gonna be nice idea, I love ice  cream very much)
4. Online tuition management system (I know lot of you do it. You will love it.)
5. Pizza hut – account management system (this is gonna be another nice idea, you will able to buy pizza online: D)
6. Character recognition system ( your program will able to read optical character, make an android application, which will able to take text image and convert  them uniocde/ascii and leter maybe it will speak up .. this is really interesting idea )
7. Voice and speech based browser. (No need to type and interact with mouse, you will speak, browser will listen. It has huge possibility in future. You know in future, desktop application will be obsolete. You will have a device with a browser only )
8. Online matrimonial system (হেসে উড়িয়ে দিও না.. ফিউচার এ মানুষ হয়তো অনলাইনে বিয়ে করবে, সুতরাং অনেক সম্ভবনা)
9. Organic Chemistry – Reaction Simulator (I think, a lot of you love chemistry, especially organic chemistry.  I love chemistry; I thought I would be a chemist. But unfortunately I’m going be legendary coder… lol.. make an organic chemistry simulator, you will have fun, I’m sure  )
10. Help Desk (you probably know about it, very simple projects.)
11. Automated DAL generator in Java. (You already know about three layer architecture, let’s make a framework in java which will connect with database, and automatically generate DAL layer and entity classes and will be convention over configuration approach, I think this one is most interesting project idea(hey, this one is copyright by me, if you want to implement it, you must have to mention my name in your project, :p))
12. Online appointment system (Last year, lot of us including me, done this, so it can be a nice idea)
13. Emergency Call System in Android (this is an application that you activate before you might get into an emergency situation (i.e. before walking alone through a tunnel). Then you have to press a button (or a finger on the screen…) and as soon as you lift the finger from that button/screen, the device will send an emergency call to a friend/the police and send the current position, sound and video to another device or to an internet portal.)
14. Bluetooth based attendance system. (I don’t know is it feasible or not, again, let me give you the idea, I know now a days all of us have mobile devices. Right?  And I’m assuming all we have Bluetooth support phone. So everybody will connect via Bluetooth, so if we are at class, the application automatically ensure our attendance, and end of the application will produce a report)
15. Bangla keyboard for android. (This can be another good idea; still we have no good Bangla keyboard for android device. Let’s make one)
16. Barcode reader with android device (It has implementation already. Again we will add some new features. Let say, we just scan a barcode and get the product name, description , price etc., and then search it over internet and make a good comparison, user will view a comparison reports, It will help him/her to take decision whether he will buy or not )
17. CV writer for android (All you have to write cv, it’s something mandatory for everybody, let’s make a simple app, user will only input their data, then let them to choose template, and it will automatically make a cv, and user will able to send it , easy, but it has business value.)
18. Inventory management for android (You already know a lot about inventory management software, may be its desktop and web based, let’s make it for android device for the manager who will pay you definitely.  They will get the whole shop in their hand, and they will surely amuse to use it and your pocket will be …. You know what…)
19. Financial Calculator for android (this is gonna be nice idea from business point of view. Almost all the manager, CA owns a smart phone.  When an idea comes to their mind, they don’t always want to start calculating their ideas in front of computer or laptop, but it is possible in their handset, really they will use it.)
20. Medical Order sheet for android (you know about medical representatives, they visit pharmacy everyday and note medicine list, let’s make an application so that they don’t need to write on paper, they will inserts their data in the sheet, and it will automatically store into a central database, the head office of and pharmaceuticals company will be informed instantly. That will make huge business benefits )
